PROTOPIC® (tacrolimus) Ointment

Product Use:

The PROTOPIC® (tacrolimus) Ointment is a type of animmunosuppressant that reduces the immune system of the body in order to bring down the growth of eczema (atopic dermatitis) on skin. It may be used for other treatments outside this medication guide.

Indications and Usage :

The PROTOPIC® (tacrolimus) Ointment is used for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, skin condition called vitiligo, and serious refractory uveitis after a bone marrow transplantation.

Contraindications:

Use of the PROTOPIC® (tacrolimus) Ointment can lead to several side-effects like swelling of face, throat, lips, or tongue, breathing problem, itching of skin, body aches, swollen glands, swollen hair follicles, headache, stomach upset, acne, feeling more sensitive to hot or cold temperatures.

Warnings:

PROTOPIC® (tacrolimus) Ointment should not be applied on a child who is below 2 years. One should avoid sun lamps, exposure to sun, phototherapy treatments with UVA or UVB light, and tanning beds. In case one is pregnant or breast-feeding, a doctor should be always consulted before using PROTOPIC® (tacrolimus) Ointment. Sunscreen lotion should be avoided on the treated skin if prescribed by the doctor. The treated skin should never be covered with a bandage. Consuming alcohol while using PROTOPIC® (tacrolimus) Ointment can make your skin red. Also, never bathe after applying it.
